End of November 2008

Thanksgiving at Rochester
Bill and I rented a car and traveled to Rochester, NY to spend Thanksgiving with our Son, wife and four grandchildren. We had a wonderful time and as usual ate too much! Hoping all our friends had a great holiday with their loved ones.

We will be leaving Buckingham, Virginia on Sunday and travel to Adrian Georgia where we hope to see warmer weather. In our plans we felt southern Virginia would be warm enough to spend November but it proved to be quite cold. Nighttime temps for about a week dropped below freezing to lower 20's!! The camp caretaker says the weather is usually not this cold so he thinks we had something to do with it?Our camper is set for cold weather so we had not frozen pipe issues or stuff like that so we are fortunate. I brought mostly summer clothing but had the foresight to pack some colder weather stuff including mittens so I am proving to be a fairly decent camper!

who are the caretakers of the campground and very wonderful people. We will miss them and are thankful for their ministry to the Virginia District Campgrounds.

November in Virginia

November 5th

Bill and I are enjoying our time in Virginia so far. We have done some sightseeing and for the Civil War buffs, we went to Appomattox Court House, walked the route Gen. Lee led his troops where they met up with Gen Grant and surrendered. Fall foliage is a little different but beautiful none the less. Check out the picture.

We have many small chores that we hope to complete. The campground is normally busy but due to the economy most of their retreats were cancelled. Therefore there are not many people on the grounds however the weekend will probably bring cabin owners in as the weather promises to be nice. We see 60-70s most days. It is very nice.

November 2008 in Virginia

While in Virginia at District Camp in Buckingham, Bill and I served by working outside. Bill had a lot of fun playing with various tools both small and large. He was asked to trim low hanging branches. He got carried away!!

We worked a lot outside on the days the weather was warm and it was quite nice to be out in the sun while our family and friends in Plattsburgh and upper New York had to deal with rain and cold temperatures. However in Virginia the weather changed and it became unseasonally cold with temperatures only in the low 40's and dipping down into the 20'a overnight. Remind me again why we were going south for the winter??
